St. Mary’s Defensive End, All-American Isibor Commits To UCLA

St. Mary’s defensive end Odua Isibor wanted to continue his football career but pursue a strong education at the next level.

His final four were UCLA, Arizona State, Texas A&M and Yale. He wants to be an anesthesiologist when he is done with football.

On Wednesday morning, he took his next step by committing to UCLA.

Sports360AZ caught up with the defensive end at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio earlier this month, and he shared his thoughts on what the Bruins could offer.

Isibor is a guy who hasn’t been on the football field for long. He is still learning the game and developing into his 6-foot-4 frame.

That being said, he made plays, a lot of them, when he finally stepped on the field. In his senior season, the defensive end racked up 110 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and nine sacks. He was named a 2017 U.S. Army All-American.

He will also come into UCLA very-well conditioned. In addition to playing defensive, he played offensive tackle, and his production didn’t dip as the game went on. Isibor is also a power forward on the St. Mary’s basketball team.

UCLA has been successful recruiting Arizona this year. Isibor joins Saguaro offensive tackle Jax Wacaser and Pima Community College defensive Cassius Peat as Bruin commits from the Grand Canyon State.

Isibor will also be paired with fellow Army All-American Jaelan Phillips, the #5 player in the class, and Peat as the the class’ defensive end commits.
