According to MaxPreps, Trey Reynolds had two carries entering Friday’s game against Mountain Pointe. They were both touchdowns.
Reynolds got two more carries on Friday, both found pay-dirt.
The sophomore athlete’s first score came in the first quarter. As a fullback, it looked like he had been stuffed at the line, but somehow, Reynolds emerged with a clear path to the end zone. He broke through the wall of maroon and gold and powered his way for a touchdown.
His second touch was Queen Creek’s last offensive play of the game, a short touchdown run that gave the Bulldogs a 29-28 lead, the eventual final score.
Add two sacks as a defensive end, and that’s a solid Friday for the sophomore.
“The real impressive thing about Trey is he’s not a real big kid, but he’s playing defensive end in 6A, and he’s battling,” Queen Creek coach Travis Schureman said. “He’s competing. He’s a sophomore, but he’s a good sophomore. He’s a heck of an athlete, so we have to find somewhere for him to play…He’s got a bright future at Queen Creek, and we’re excited he’s a part of what we’ve got going on.”
Reynolds has juggled the roles of fullback, running back, defensive end and linebacker for the Bulldogs this year and is the team’s backup quarterback.
“To be honest, it’s pretty hard,” Reynolds laughed. “I just study a lot at home, work hard and do my thing.”
Whatever he’s doing, it seems to be working for the 5-1 Bulldogs.
