A loyal man.
The face of the Coyotes, like the rest of Phoenix, is stuck in a holding pattern waiting for Greg Jamison’s ownership group and the City of Glendale to ensure the ‘Yotes will be remaining in the Valley long-term.
The only difference is the free-agent Doan has millions of dollars waiting from whichever team he decides to sign with.
Through it all, the Desert Dogs are still at the top of his wish list.
“That’s exactly what we’re waiting for, we just want ownership to become ownership or give us a firm date where ownership will take place,” Doan’s agent Terry Bross told Brad Cesmat Wednesday on ‘Big Guy on Sports.’ “Then it will be all systems go to sit down with [Coyotes GM] Don [Maloney] at that point and get a deal done to keep Shane here and have him finish as a Coyote.”
As the summer days slip away, Doan and his reps remain committed to seeing the process through, regardless of how long it takes.
“We never feel a rush on our side of the table,” Bross explained to Cesmat. “Shane obviously has numerous suitors out there. We control the market right now…it’s about Shane and what’s best for him family…there is no line in the sand. There is no drop-dead date.”
Bross said he and Doan hold no hard feelings towards Maloney and the ‘Yotes front office who have also experienced difficulties luring free-agents to Phoenix because of the ownership situation.
Sixteen teams have inquired about signing the 35-year-old forward who has spent his entire 17-year career in the Coyotes organization.
