Shadow Mountain Comes Back, Wins Third Straight Title

The Shadow Mountain Matadors were one of the most dominant basketball teams in the state this year.

Their average margin of victory was over 35 points per game. A win in the 4A state title game meant the Matadors could continue their season and play on the national level.

The only ones standing in the way of the Matadors three-peat was the Salpointe Catholic Lancers, who Shadow Mountain beat last year in the 4A title game.

At half, the 11th seeded Lancers led Shadow Mountain by 14. At one point in the third quarter, they led by 23. But the Matadors came storming back in the fourth quarter, outscoring Salpointe Catholic 32-11 on their way to an 83-79 win.

Junior guard Jaelen House led the way with 30 points and 14 steals.
