Quick hits from UofA home loss to Wash. State

Arizona Sports News online

Arizona Wildcats season took a turn in the wrong direction on Saturday, falling on their home field to Washington State 24-17. With the loss the Cats fall to 6-4 and have Oregon coming to Tucson next week.

A few observations…

Washington State did a nice job defensively on Arizona, allowing just 395 yards of total offense to Rich Rodriguez’ team.

Ka’Deem Carey scored two touchdowns and ran for 132 yards, but really wasn’t a factor late in the game.

Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns. It was his 7th 300 yard passing game of the season.

Arizona quarterback BJ Denker made a terrific 4th down run with less than a minute left in the game to keep the Cats potential game tying drive alive. But the final couple of plays will haunt the quarterback and the rest of the offense. Too much precious time ticked off the clock by not getting out of bounds. Not the best clock management.

Wildcats now have to bounce back in a hurry as the Oregon Ducks are next. It’s always eventful when the Ducks and Cats face off in Tucson.
