Saguaro’s Joseph Clark Commits To NAU

Arizona Sports News online

Saguaro’s Joseph (Jojo) Clark committed to Northern Arizona University on Friday morning. Jojo had offers from UNLV, the University of Arizona, and San Diego State. His very first Division I offer came from the Wildcats but it was the Lumberjacks up north that came out on top.

“Going to NAU, it was the best choice for me because it is close to home and it gives me the opportunity to play at the next level. And I love the program and where it’s located!”

Coaches that recruited Jojo told him that they see him fitting in as a hybrid nickelback and strong safety. Clark also feels that the defense at NAU is similar to what he’s become familiar with at Saguaro.

“My relationship with the coaches goes way back. In seventh/eighth grade I went to the USA Football Game in Dallas,TX to play in the game for Coach Reed [cornerback coach]. He was my Head coach for the game …and going to my first ever 7v7 practice was when I met Coach Hoff … it’s funny how life works!!! I just thank God for this blessing …”

Jojo is a talented multi-skilled athlete for the Sabercats playing linebacker, defensive back and running back. He posted 12 solo tackles, 42 total tackles and five tackles for loss in his junior season. He was also able to contribute on the offensive side of the ball with five touchdowns in the 2022 season.

Jojo says his senior season is all about enjoying every day, becoming a better leader and making every play count. He is aiming to record over 90 tackles, 10 interceptions and 10 or more tackles for loss.
