Rising FC Falls at Tulsa

Phoenix Rising FC couldn’t overcome a pair of first-half goals from Tulsa Roughnecks FC, as the club lost 3-0 on the road at ONEOK Field.

Tulsa opened the scoring less than 20 minutes into the match when a Juan Pablo Caffa corner was headed into the net by Roughnecks FC’s leading scorer Ian Svantesson in the 14th minute.

Rising FC (6-6-4) responded with a couple of chances, as defender Peter Ramage headed a Didier Drogba free kick just wide of the goal in the 16th minute. Moments later, Drogba nearly scored on a free kick but it was turned aside by Tulsa goalkeeper Fabian Cerda.

Tulsa (8-8-1) doubled its lead minutes before the half when midfielder Jacori Hayes picked up a loose ball in the Rising FC box and slotted home a low shot past Phoenix Rising goalkeeper Josh Cohen to make it 2-0.

Tulsa found the back of the net for a third time in the 85th minute when substitute Christian Thierjung picked up a bouncing ball just inside the box and beat Cohen with a well-placed shot into the lower right corner.

Phoenix Rising FC returns to the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex on Saturday, July 29, to take on San Antonio FC. The match will kick off at 8:00 p.m. Fans can purchase their tickets by heading to www.PHXRisingFC.com
