A few of Arizona’s sports stars took to the track for the first time in their athletic careers.
Courtesy of the NASCAR Racing Experience, members from the Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, and others had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a NASCAR Stock Car at the home of the NASCAR Championship and then take a ride along with the 1999 Cup Series Champion, Dale Jarrett.
The athletes had to start with a training course before piloting the machines, exceeding over 100 mph into the corners of Phoenix Raceway. As the sun glared into their eyes down the back straightaway, they were guided on the radio, and increased their speed every lap.
Diamondbacks third baseman, Josh Rojas along with his outfielder teammate, Stone Garrett, took to the track first followed by former NFL Pro Bowler, Shaun Phillips. The Cardinals sent a trio of outside linebackers to soak in the experience with Jesse Luketa, Victor Dimukeje, and Cameron Thomas. Bellator MMA fighter and former ASU wrestler, Sullivan Cauley, also joined in on the fun.
The NASCAR Racing Experience will return to Phoenix Raceway in December, February, and March to allow anyone to take the wheel at Phoenix Raceway or ride along with a pro. You can book your experience at NASCARRacingExperience.com.
