The Arizona Diamondbacks made waves in the 2015 offseason, adding Zack Greinke, Shelby Miller and Jean Segura. Though Segura had a 200-hit season, Greinke struggled with injury and Miller struggled throughout the year. Throw in major injuries to A.J. Pollock and Davis Peralta, and the D-Backs ended 2016 with a 69-93.
The 2016 offseason brought in general manager Mike Hazen and manager Torey Lovullo, both from Boston. According to MLB correspondent Richard Justice, the Diamondbacks have added two pieces of their leadership team that can help get them back to winning ways. ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick likes the lineup the Diamondbacks will be running out in 2017. Will the pitching hold up to compete with the Dodgers, Giants and Rockies? We will have to see, but bringing in Taijuan Walker and Ketel Marte in exchange for Jean Segura could provide for some big-time contributors down the road.
