While the fate of one wide receiver legend is still up in the air for the Arizona Cardinals, it looks like the team is bringing in another in A.J. Green.
There are multiple reports out that the team and the seven-time Pro Bowl receiver on a one-year deal. Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro is reporting the deal is for $6 million and could reach $8 million with incentives.
Green has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark six times in his nine year career. In 2018, he appeared in only nine games and missed the entirety of the 2019 season due to an ankle injury.
In 2020, Green started 14 of 16 games and caught 47 passes for 523 yards and two touchdowns.
The Cardinals will hope pairing up with Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins, Christian Kirk and potentially Larry Fitzgerald will help bring Green back to his previous self.
Over nine years, Green caught 649 passes for 9,430 yards and 65 touchdowns. He currently ranks seventh in active receiving yards and if Fitzgerald returns to the team, that would give the Cardinals three receivers in the top-10 of that category.
