Recruiting Update on Logan Powell

Brophy offensive tackle Logan Powell has long be regarded as a top recruit in the state for the 2025 class.

Recently he cut down his list to a top 5: Alabama, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Wisconsin a few weeks ago and took in the spring games at Arizona State and Arizona.

He hopes to have a commitment in June and has lined up official visits to Wisconsin, Alabama and the Arizona Wildcats.

The Wildcats – where Logan’s older brother Tyler plays – have made a push after their coaching staff has settled in.

“For a while, they were worrying about their own, keeping the players they have, which I respect,” Powell said. “I was really glad they kept talking to me. (offensive line coach Josh Oglesby) is a great guy, a big guy, makes me look little.”

Powell, who stands at 6-foot-4, 280 pounds, took in the spring games in Tempe and Tucson in late April. He also has plenty of connections to the Sun Devil staff. He’s developed a relationship with offensive line coach Saga Tuitele, assistant head coach Charlie Ragle and head coach Kenny Dillingham. His first two seasons of his high school career were at Saguaro, where now Sun Devils tight ends coach Jason Mohns was head coach at the time.

“Every time I come out to (Tempe), I feel welcome,” Powell said. “They always talk to me like I’ve been friends with them for years.”

Powell has learned from his older brother, who was in a similar position just a few years ago. Tyler graduated with the class of 2022 and had to navigate his recruitment during the COVID pandemic, but many of the lessons he learned he wanted to pass to his brother.

“He told me to take all my visits,” Logan said of his brother. “Make sure where I want to go is where I feel at home, where I feel I can develop and where I can be the best player I can be.”

Logan is looking to make his decision and continue to develop under Brophy head coach Jason Jewell.

“He’s helped me develop my fundamentals correctly with this I struggled with my freshman and sophomore year.”

It should be a busy summer for Powell, and a big 2024 season for the Brophy Broncos.
