Quarterback Scroggins officially signs with Wildcats

It was made official on Wednesday that the Arizona Wildcats have landed a junior college transfer quarterback, Jesse Scroggins, as he signed a National Letter of Intent and will be eligible to play in 2013.

Scroggins, a former four-star recruit from Lakewood, CA, is a duel-threat quarterback that spent the 2010 and 2011 seasons as a USC Trojan. Because of being lower on the depth chart while in Los Angeles, Scroggins transfered to El Camino College in 2012 and threw for 1,148 yards and eight touchdowns as well as two rushing touchdowns.

With Matt Scott graduating, the starting quarterback spot is up for grabs. Scroggins will compete with B.J. Denker who was the backup last season for the Wildcats and also four-star quarterback recruit Anu Solomon who will be an incoming freshman coming out of Bishop Gorman in Nevada. However Solomon could be given a redshirt in his freshman season.

The quarterback battle will be one of the biggest story-lines surrounding the Wildcats this off-season as they look to build on their first eight win season since 1998 in year one under Rich Rodriguez.
