When the sports world shut down earlier this month, Brock and Chubba Purdy were on a family vacation in Florida. 12 days later, the quarterback brothers by way of Perry high school, are still at their initial landing spot of St. Cloud. “I have been lifting and throwing with my brother,” Brock told me by text on Saturday evening. He is heading into his junior season at Iowa State, while his younger brother will be enrolling at Florida State this coming summer. “We are staying away from the city by jet skiing, fishing, playing basketball, and doing football workouts,” Chubba added via text.

With so much downtime, Brock has taken up a new hobby; self-teaching himself the piano.

“I’ve always wanted to learn the piano, so this is a perfect time to learn. I’m such a perfectionist that I keep redoing the chorus until I don’t mess it up”.  With all sports on hold due to COVID-19, it has given time for the elder Purdy to reflect. “It’s like the first time society has taken a step back from sports in awhile. Makes you think about the purpose of life”.
