Campo Verde won a thrilling 5A playoff game shootout against McClintock Friday night, 42-39.
But for this team, wins mean more.
Six months ago, we produced a documentary on Campo Verde head coach Ryan Freeman and his daughter Brylee.
The Fighting Freemans: The Brylee Freeman Story told the story of how Brylee overcame Ewing’s Sarcoma at nine years old and how coaching football was a focal point for the Freeman family even through the struggles.
Now, the Freemans discovered that Brylee has Acute Myeloid Leukemia caused by her chemo for Ewing’s Sarcoma.
The battle is just beginning for Ryan and his family, but his team is supporting him every way they can.
The Campo Verde Coyotes, aka The Fighting Freemans, want nothing more than to keep playing and put on a show for Brylee in any way they can.
