Born in China and adopted at seven months old in Arizona, Mia Lovell is a Phoenix-raised star looking to make her name in NASCAR
Originally winning gold medals as a pro skateboarder, the COVID pandemic brought a lane change to Lovell. A graduate of Phoenix Country Day School, Lovell began racing on road courses after her father tossed her in a car at Apex Motor Club. Since then, she has made her name in Trans Am TA2, and now the ARCA Menards Series.
In just her second career stock car race, the 19-year-old went to battle at her home race of Phoenix Raceway on March 5. Lovell faced off in one of the most competitive ARCA races in years for ARCA super team, Nitro Motorsports. After running in the top ten for the majority of the day, Lovell was involved in an accident on lap 100 of 150 that ended her first race at her home track.
Lovell plans to continue pursuing a career in motorsports, now living in North Carolina and enrolled at Davidson College.
Three more days remain of a historic doubleheader with NASCAR and INDYCAR at Phoenix Raceway. Qualifying for the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and INDYCAR headlines Friday’s action. Those two series will race back to back on Saturday with the NASCAR Cup Series concluding the weekend with the Straight Talk 500 on Sunday. Get your tickets now at phoenixraceway.com.
