Peter King: Cardinals “Best Team In the NFC”

Bruce Arians prefers to live in the present.

Forget about the past and don’t look too far into what the future might have in store.

Sure, he’s as excited about the Arizona Cardinals 7-1 start as anyone but knows the NFL can be cruel and unforgiving on those who take their foot off the gas and pat themselves on the back. The players are certainly buying what Arians and his staff are selling.

“Seven-and-one…the only thing that guarantees to get you is seven-and-nine,” Cardinals defensive tackle Dan Williams said with a wide grin Monday. “We have coaches that remind us it can go down hill real fast.”

Regardless if Arians, the players or the organization want to hear it–the word is out nationally on the Cards and dominating the Cowboys in Dallas on a FOX featured game can only help build the buzz around a team which won 10 games a year ago but somehow didn’t make the playoffs.

“I love the Cardinals,” SI.com senior NFL writer and ‘Monday Morning Quarterback’ Editor-in-Chief Peter King told Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat Tuesday morning during his weekly segment. “How could you not love them? I think they’re the best team in the NFC.”

King says the Cards could be on the verge of history if the wins continue to stack up over the next two months and the team continues to trend upwards and get healthy down the home stretch.

“This could be such an incredibly interesting year,” he continued. “Because can you imagine if the Cardinals have home-field advantage and host the NFC Championship game knowing that if they win they’ll be the first team in 49 Super Bowls to play the Super Bowl on their home field.”

King says Arians is the perfect blend of respect, fire, humility and a bit of humor.

“He really makes football fun.”

It would be even more fun for the Bird Gang if he were coaching on the sidelines February 1st in Glendale.
