Pac-12 recruiting: Big weekends for Utah, Colorado, OSU and Washington as prospects attend spring games

The Hotline is delighted to provide Pac-12 fans with a weekly dive into the recruiting process through the eyes and ears of Brandon Huffman, the Seattle-based national recruiting editor for 247Sports.

The following information, in his words, was provided to the Hotline on April 20 …

Four schools are hosting spring games this weekend, which means they are hosting recruits.

Utah and Washington will have official visitors on campus; in the case of Oregon State and Colorado, a number of unofficial visits are lined up. All told, the prospects are signees from the high school class of 2023 and top targets from the class of 2024.

And we should note that Oregon State is also hosting its Junior Day this weekend, so there is a lot happening in Corvallis.

*** Let’s start with the defending conference champions, Utah.

The Utes have two significant in-state official visitors, edge rusher Kash Dillon and quarterback Isaac Wilson, the younger brother of former Brigham Young quarterback Zach Wilson.

Dylan and Wilson are teammates at Corner Canyon High School and are obviously an important tandem for the Utes, who would like to keep the four-star quarterback in the state and finally get some momentum with the Wilson family.

Isaac is the youngest of the four brothers. His father, Mike, played for Utah, but all three older brothers picked BYU.

Dillon is a three-star pass rusher and a top-five player in the state.

Utah also will have a number of unofficial visitors this weekend, including three-star tailback Ca’lil Valentine from Chandler, Ariz., and three-star safety Jeilani Davis from Mater Dei.

*** Colorado has a gigantic weekend lined up.

The official visitor is four-star receiver Aaron Butler, a top-10 player in California; he’s also a former USC commitment.

Oregon is the favorite for Butler in the 247 Crystal Ball predictions, but CU made an impression on him in March when he took an unofficial visit.

The Buffaloes will also have a couple of significant unofficial visitors in town, including Williams Nwaneri, a five-star pass rusher out of Missouri, and a slew of four-star defensive linemen and edge rushers.

*** Oregon State won’t host any official visitors, but the Beavers have a big weekend of unofficial visits, including the No. 2 player in the state in the 2025 class: three-star tight end Baron Naone.

They are also hosting two of the top three players in Washington in the class of 2025 in four-star athletes T’Andre Waverly and Jonathan Epperson.

But that’s not all. The Beavers will welcome Tyrone Jackson, a three-star receiver from San Francisco, and two kids from Southern California: three-star athlete Peyton Waters and three-star receiver Kory Hall.

Lastly, OSU will welcome Makhi Frazier, an unrated running back from Texas who has offers from Big Ten and SEC schools.

*** Washington has one official visitor, Austin Mack, who was committed to the Huskies as part of their 2024 class, then reclassified to 2023 and signed a letter of intent. But he signed in February and only now will take his official visit before he enrolls this summer.

He would have been the No. 1 player in Northern California in 2024 before reclassifying but ended up No. 3 behind receiver Jurrion Dickey and quarterback Jaden Rashada.

What’s more, the Huskies will have the No. 1 player in Northern California from the next two high school classes in town this weekend.

The top player in 2024 is four-star defensive lineman Jericho Johnson, who just took visits to Miami and Georgia. He’s actually stopping at Oregon this weekend before he visits Washington on Saturday for the spring game.

The other is four-star tight end Kaleb Edwards, the top-rated player in Northern California in the 2025 class. The Huskies offered him a scholarship last summer.

Washington’s quarterback commitment for the 2024 class, three-star prospect EJ Caminong, will also be on campus.

Another notable visitor is three-star offensive lineman Devin Brooks, the third-ranked player in Oregon in the class of 2024. His top three schools are Oregon USC and Washington, with visits scheduled for consecutive weeks in June.
