My ride share driver from the airport said on the way to the hotel “this is a Bucks town”. Well, now the fans here in Milwaukee can turn their attention to the Dame/Giannis show because baseball season is over.
Those scrappy Diamondbacks came into town and eliminated the Brewers from postseason play with a 5-2 victory here on Wednesday night.
Zac Gallen didn’t have his best stuff, but it was good enough as the game progressed to keep Milwaukee off balance. The Brewers would score two in the first, but after that, it felt like the Rallybacks would arrive at some point.
They did.
Alek Thomas slugged a solo homerun in the 5th to make the score 2-1 Brewers. The Diamondbacks would push across four more runs in the 6th without the benefit of an extra base hit. Ketel Marte would deliver a two-run single scoring Geraldo Perdoma and Corbin Carroll. The Arizona lead would stretch to 5-2.
From that point on it was a matter of how many pitches Gallen would throw(100) and could the bullpen navigate through the final four innings(they did).
With the Brewers in the rear-view mirror, the Diamondbacks head to LA for the next round of the playoffs against the Dodgers. Game One will be Saturday, Merrill Kelly will start for the Diamondbacks.
