Ohtani fallout for D-Backs, my Heisman ballot, Hamilton front-runner?

Arizona Sports News online

Hey dads, put a glove and ball under the tree this holiday. Seven hundred million dollars for a baseball player might make you think twice about other sports for the kids.

A year ago, the Dodgers were quiet on the free-agent front. It was presumed that they were waiting on the 2023  Ohtani sweepstakes.  So the news on Saturday that Shohei signed with the Dodgers wasn’t so much the headline as HOW MUCH MONEY he’s going to get. $700-million dollars tied up in one player is dangerous IMO, No one can predict health…

What exactly did he do for the Angels? How many playoff games did the Halo’s win in his time? How many Tommy John surgeries has he undergone? If you’re a Dodgers fan, you think you just won the 2024 World Series. Fandom almost always leads to delusion. I understand that Ohtani’s camp let the Diamondbacks know that Shohei liked what’s happening here in Arizona. The Diamondbacks didn’t engage, and I don’t blame them.

Ohtani in the NL West is great for Arizona’s fans. The seven games LA will play in downtown Phoenix in the coming season will be must-see…

Eduardo Rodriguez > Sonny Gray. Like the move by the Diamondbacks…

The wise guys in Vegas didn’t have the D-backs favored in ANY of their postseason games.  Vegas doesn’t always get it right…

I put in my Heisman ballot last Sunday. I voted  for Michael Penix Jr. over Jayden Daniels. LSU went 9-3, Washington 13-0. Tigers lost to three ranked teams. LSU went 2-3 with teams that had a winning record. Personal stats on a team with three losses don’t mean much to me. Daniels finished with 503 first place votes. Penix 292.  It was the closest Heisman voting since 2018.

Eight years from now, the Corbin Carroll contract will look like a steal. Actually, it’s looking like a pretty good deal now…

In my circles, Travis Dixon is the clubhouse leader for the head coaching job at Hamilton. A former Husky QB who knows the expectations of a job the size of Hamilton. Is he experienced enough? He did a nice job at Eastmark, but is that enough?…

Arizona vs Purdue next Saturday- Love these big college hoop games in December…

GCU with two quad-one victories. Taking down San Diego State and then going cross country to win four days later at Liberty is getting the job done. ‘Lopes have a strong resume, but as always is the case for them, they must win the WAC Tourney in March in order to make the tournament, Or, do they?…

Ty Thompson did everything that was asked of him at Oregon. He waited for his chance and the Ducks decided there was someone better than him at quarterback in the portal. Loyalty? Commit to the school not the head coach? Those days are gone…
