No Durant or Booker until Christmas, Hazen award, new diet…

Arizona Sports News online

Devin Booker and Kevin Durant deserve a break.

The two superstars have played the last five weeks on their way to winning a gold medal for Team USA. I want to be the first to offer that we don’t need to see them until Christmas night, when the Suns will reportedly meet the Denver Nuggets. The miles and wear and tear those two have burned up this Summer have to be factored in when the long, long regular season grind of the NBA starts in October. Not having a full off-season should be taken into account. Do Durant and Booker even need to show up for training camp? Don’t give me the “we need to build chemistry” nonsense for a Tuesday night game vs Atlanta in November.  Get back to me on Christmas Night because the next big date for those two will be the opening round of the playoffs in April 2025. There has to be a trade-off for representing your country while being fresh for your day job when the games matter in the postseason…

Only in our country would a fan base be outraged that a certain player did not get enough playing time while the USA won the gold medal. Jayson Tatum would’ve taken minutes from who? What are we doing here?…

The way Booker takes care of himself, I could see him playing in at least two more Olympic Games…

Arizona Sports News onlineWhen the Executive of the Year award is presented to Diamondbacks GM Mike Hazen, Joc Pederson, Kevin Newman, and Josh Bell,  will be just a few of the names listed in the story…

I am on the Jake McCarthy bandwagon. He’s a player I want to see in Arizona for a long time. With the logjam of talented outfielders, huge off-season decisions are coming. Some fans are going to be let down…

Zac Gallen goes down, and Ryne Nelson stays in the rotation. This is how it goes over a 162-game season…

Caitlin Clark throws out the first pitch at a Yankees game, and there’s more buzz about her in the booth than about the USA Women’s Olympic Team. NO ONE can explain away why Clark wasn’t on the team. One of the most egregious errors in Olympic history…

For those who said that they were boycotting watching the Olympics, you can come up for air now. By the way, the ratings were tremendous without you…

Even if Dave Pasch and Ron Wolfley are calling a meaningless preseason game, it is still worth the price of three hours of my time. They tell me things about the players that I don’t know. It’s not the usual infomercial/hype that so many teams force down throats in August…

In the last week I’ve learned that chasing a puppy is my new diet of choice. It’s funny how my rings get around much faster chasing “Bogey” than doing the five-mile bike ride or walk…
