One year ago, Firebird Motorsports Park was scheduled to be demolished. The historic drag strip that has allowed professionals and hobbyists to race across the year was supposed to be a fatality of an I-10 expansion on the Wild Horse Pass property.
But the fans came out in masses for NHRA weekend in 2023 and a few months later, it was announced that the multipurpose racing facility would stay alive and welcome racers and fans for future years to come.
As NHRA makes its 39th appearance to the Chandler drag strip, legends of the sport can’t help but smile as they return to a site with so much history and with so many friends in the valley that they’ve made in their careers.
