New Offers, Visits And Players To Watch

Luke Haugo – 2025, Quarterback

The transfer from North High School in Phoenix is fresh to the Higley squad. The first week of spring ball marks his very first week at Higley High School. The rising junior quarterback split varsity quarterback time at North during his freshman year. In his freshman season, he posted 294 yards with three touchdowns in just five games.

In his sophomore season playing quarterback at North, he posted 1,273 yards with 13 touchdowns. Now he plans to make his mark at Higley, replacing three-star quarterback Jamar Malone afer he transferred to IMG Academy in Florida.

Luke’s first offer came from Kenny Dillingham at Oregon in May of 2022 at the Pinnacle showcase. His second offer came from UofA shortly after in June and his third offer came from Shaun Aguano during his time as interim head coach at ASU.

“I really like ASU’s new coaching staff for sure. The last coach didn’t utilize Arizona well and didn’t recruit and I got the benefit when the new coaching staff came in.”

A new coaching staff is something that Luke is getting accustomed to quickly. After just one week at Higley High School, he’s confident he made the right decision to transfer for a new opportunity.

This off-season the 6-foot-5, 205-pound quarterback hopes to drop his time in the 40-yard dash and has a goal weight of 210 ibs.

Donovan Aidoo – 2024, Safety

Higley’s three-star safety Donovan Aidoo is coming off an official visit to the University of Arizona. His trip to visit the Wildcats marked his first time ever visiting Tucson. He says he enjoyed the feel of the college town and felt he made strong relationships and connections with the coaching staff.

Arizona State joins UofA in the top programs making its mark on Aidoo’s recruitment. In addition to the two in-state programs, UNLV, Washington State and San Diego State have also made a push for him. This summer, Donovan plans to visit all the west coast schools to get a better sense of which will be the best fit for him.

“ASU’s practice environment is really nice. Coach [Vince] Amey, he used to coach over here, so catching up with him and one of my former teammates Myles Amey still goes there. I can tell they’re definitely rebuilding and it’s happening. It’s just cool to see that team come together.”

Donovan says he’s not putting any pressure on setting a deadline to make a commitment but anticipates he will decide where he’s headed before the start of his senior season or early in the fall.

Nijrell Eason II – 2024, Defensive Back

The four-star Higley defensive back has offers from in-state schools Arizona and NAU. Nijrell earned the offer from Arizona from Jordan Paopao after he watched his film and went to a spring practice last year to watch him in action. Paopao made an impression on Nijrell, in addition to making the offer he took the time to give him tips and suggestions to continue to improve his game.

This summer, Nijrell plans to make visits to Arizona, Colorado State, UNLV and Louisville. This off-season, Nijrell’s goal is to put on more weight and hone in on his craft – a craft he’s quite confident about.

Miles Lockhart – 2024, Corner

Four-star cornerback Miles Lockhart took a visit to Oregon on April 29 to watch the Ducks in their spring game. Miles says the relationship with former Basha corner and now Duck, Cole Martin has helped continue to build a relationship with Oregon football.

“Just a lot of real conversations about how he’s really living down there, what it’s like. I mean he was just playing with us a couple months ago and now he’s already in college so it’s real cool, he’s kind of mentoring us a little bit.”

Lockhart says Ohio State has not lost contact with him since he earned the offer in June of 2022. He has an official visit lined up with the Buckeyes on June 16. Miles says recently Wisconsin has started to make a strong push to recruit him.

“[Wisconsin] actually has a lot of corners transferring out of the school just due to the transfer portal and the new staff that came in. Coach Haynes and them really like me, I’m number one on their board. They just really like me a lot and like the way I play and fit into the system.”

Miles announced via Twitter that he plans to make his commitment on July 6.

Javery Mayberry – 2024, Tight End

“My recruitment picked up a lot this off-season. Central Michigan, UConn, NAU and Marshall is what I have so far this off-season. But I have been talking to a lot of coaches, so it’s been going really good.”

Javery’s offer from Central Michigan was his third Division I offer and he chose to make a visit to the Chippewas in early April.

“They see that I’m athletic. They like that I’ve played basketball the last couple years. They were all pretty cool out there,” Mayberry said.

Javery says this season he hopes to step up into a leadership role and help guide his younger teammates.

“I think he’s going to be our most heavily recruited athlete this spring. He’s going to blow up,” McDonald said. “If you put him on ASU’s roster right now and you put him on the bus, you wouldn’t think twice that he’s not a D1 football player, he already looks like a college kid.”

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end transferred from Eastmark last season. Mayberry suffered a season-ending shoulder injury at the start of his sophomore season at Eastmark. After transferring he was then required to sit out the first five games at Basha. Javery only appeared in the final six games of the season. In that stretch, he posted 141 receiving yards with two touchdowns.

“In the spring people are going to see how athletic he is, how physical he is, his point of attack and I think with Bear Tenney moving to Texas I think it’s not even a question who the best TE in the state now is,” McDonald said.
