More good than bad…

Pitchers and catchers report today!

Kevin Durant scored his 30,000th point last night. Only MJ and Wilt did it faster.

It doesn’t have to be all “hot takes” and negatives. Sure, to this point the Suns have had one of their most disappointing seasons, but what matters most is still in front of them. The long grind of the regular season still has two months to go before the playoffs. If you haven’t looked closely into Durant’s season, you might want to consider that at age 36 he’s averaging 27 points per game, while shooting 52% from the floor. Unbelievable numbers! Sometimes, I have to step back from the noise of our industry and remind myself that greatness doesn’t often come along in our little slice of heaven. Pretty special in an otherwise forgettable season…

Pitchers and catchers reporting hits me a few different ways. Our great state benefits from having 15 teams train in Maricopa County. Our economy is impacted in a positive way by the tourists coming into town. I don’t mind seeing golf courses get $300 or more for a round this time of year. I’ll play them after the Cactus League ends and the prices start to dip. It’s cool to have a choice of teams to check out…

This past weekend, I became a 1st time grandpa. I’m walking one of my daughters down the aisle later this year.I was able to tell Jody Jackson and Charlie Ragle that they are this years National Football Foundation Distinguished Arizona Award winners. March 8th at Wild Horse Pass, I’ll be able to introduce two people that I admire. Enjoying the ride!

Super Bowl Sunday hits me differently simply because I think about the loss of my friend and colleague Pedro Gomez on the day of the big game in 2021. Many of us miss Pedro…

It doesn’t always have to be hot takes! Enjoying the sports scene and life comes easier to me as the years roll by. The late, great Joe Gilmartin once told me, “Big Guy, you have to know whether to bring out the flyswatter or the sledgehammer”. So true…
