Grand Canyon University women’s basketball had big plans for the postseason.
After nabbing the second seed in the WAC tournament, a shot at a tournament win and automatic qualifier spot was on the team’s radar. After a hard-fought game against No. 3 Stephen F. Austin, the Lopes saw their conference tournament goals cut short, losing 66-63.
Head coach Molly Miller has helped usher this program into Division I status and the program has grown under her watch. This year, the Lopes set the program record for wins at Division I status with 24. A trip to the WNCAA tournament is next on the list.
While that won’t happen this year, Miller believes this team deserves a postseason tournament bid, and the program is in a place that this is the next step to get them to March Madness.
She shared her reflections and thoughts on the season in her postgame availability.
