Kenny Dillingham, river-boat gambler. A 28-23 win over BYU didn’t come without questioning the head coach.
Saturday afternoon, his Arizona State team executed an onside kick up 14-0 in the second quarter. In the third quarter, with a chance to perhaps put the game away, deep in BYU territory, the coach went for it and didn’t convert. A fourth down chip shot field goal to likely win the game, the head coach goes for it and comes up short. The game’s final play should’ve run the clock out, but after a 13-minute delay after the students ran on the field, BYU had a chance to win the game.

If you like this style of coaching, please don’t complain or b#$ch to me when it doesn’t work out. I am fine with this style of coaching; remember, “No risk it, no biscuit.”. Former Cardinals head coach Bruce Arian’s excellent quote rings true tonight.
You’re going to have to live with controversial head coach decisions, and I am fine with that. You can’t have it both ways. Give me the river-boat gambler all day long…
