Every week, Southwest Recruiting Analyst for Scout.com and Sports360az.com recruiting insider Jason Jewell takes us around the state and spotlights the best performances during the high school football season. Here are the stars from Week Zero of the 2015 season.
Player of the Week
* There were some great offensive performances last week but I am going with a defensive player to start the season. How often does a player record four interceptions? Not very. So I am going with Basha’s Seth Doumbia, who had 4 INTs in a win over Liberty.
Coach of the Week
* Jason Wilke – Tolleson- Used his double wing, run oriented offense and came away with a win against Poston Butte. Throwing just 9 passes, with 6 completions, the Wolverines tallied 316 yards and 5 TDs on the ground.
Team of the Week
* Campo Verde – CV traveled down to Tucson and played highly ranked Salpointe and came away with the win.
QBs
* Basha junior Ryan Kelley threw for 425 yards and 4 TDs in a win over Liberty. Kelley added two rushing scores.
* Saguaro’s Kare Lyles was sharp against Valley Vista. He was 14 of 17 for 258 yards and 4 TDs.

* Desert Edge junior Tehran Thomas ad 5 rushing TDs and 1 passing against Catalina Foothills.
* Stetson Stallworth from Yuma Catholic threw for 294 yards and 4 scores against Cortez.
* Seton Catholic’s Garrett Boyd had 355 yards and 2 TDs against Safford.

* Basha’s Hunter Dean-Gibson caught 7 passes for 263 yards and 3 TDs against Liberty.
* Perry’s Jack O’Hare had 5 catches for 158 yards and 2 TDs vs Dobson.
