Hamilton strikes early, knocks out Corona

Corona del Sol, the 24th seed in the Division I tournament went down to Tucson over the weekend and upset the Tucson Badgers to advance past the first round of the state baseball playoffs.

But their Cinderella run would come to a halt as they ran into the former state runner-ups, the 8th seeded Hamilton Huskies, losing 9-1 Tuesday night.

The Aztecs would threaten in the top of the first. But with two on, Hamilton starting pitcher Parker Galledos would get out of the inning unscathed. Galledos almost threw a complete game, went six and 2/3 innings, giving up six hits and only one earned run.

The Huskies offense would strike in the bottom half of the first. Slugger Mitch Nay would get the Huskies on the board first with an RBI single to left field which scored junior Skylar Palermo.

Still in the first, the Huskies would break the game open on a three run home run off the bat of Garrett Enwiller which made the game 4-0, and was more than enough damage to send the Huskies onto the next round.

Hamilton’s next opponent, the number one seeded Pinnacle Pioneers on Thursday night.
