Arizona head coach and former Team USA skipper Mike Candrea will be inducted into the National Softball Hall of Fame.

Candrea, the head coach of the Team USA’s 2004 Olympic Gold Medalists and 2008 Olympic Silver Medalists, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this October in Greensboro, N.C., for meritorious service. Candrea spent six years with Team USA while simultaneously building one of the most dominant collegiate programs in any sport at any level at Arizona.

In all, Candrea has won eight national championships at Arizona and won more than 1,500 games, both the most in NCAA Division I softball history.March 4, 2017. Head coach Mike Candrea during the Wildcats 2-1 walkoff win over the Texas Longhorns. Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium, Tucson, AZ.

In addition to his two Olympic Games, Candrea also coached Team USA to Gold medals at the 2003 and 2007 Pan American Games.

“I am incredibly honored to be inducted into the National Softball Hall of Fame,” said Candrea. “My years with USA Softball are some of the most meaningful and memorable times of my career.”

Candrea is one of nine inductees who will be honored at the 2017 National Softball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Greensboro, N.C. on October 21. Each year’s ceremony kicks off the USA Softball Annual Meeting (Oct. 21-27, 2017).

The National Softball Hall of Fame and Museum has 394 members with two categories of membership: players and non-players. Candrea joins the 184 members in non-playing categories and the 49th entry to be honored for meritorious service.
