Graham Believes ASU Landed a “Diamond in the Rough” in WR Tim White

Arizona Sports News online

The wide receiver position for Arizona State with the departure of Jaelen Strong and loss of Cameron Smith for the season due to injury, needed to add some depth.

Todd Graham and company was able to do that and then some on Wednesday in adding JUCO transfer from College of the Canyons in Southern California, Tim White.

White is a 5-10, 180 speedy receiver who has two years left of eligibility. He played his high school football at Hart High School in Valencia, CA which is the same school that True Freshman quarterback Brady White attended.

Todd Graham joined The Brad Cesmat Show on Thursday and discussed the player they have added in Tim White.

“He is a very dynamic player,” Graham told Sports360az.om. “A guy that will also triple-jump of our track team. And just a tremendous player, an explosive returner, inside slot receiver. A guy that provides weapon to an already talented arsenal we’ve got with D.J. [Foster], Gump [Hayes] and the core of receivers we already have.”

White, as Graham notes, has loads of athleticism and will be a two-sport athlete for the Sun Devils. He had a lot of interest from some major programs after his redshirt sophomore season at College of the Canyons. Graham was pumped it was ASU that White chose in the end.

“We found like we found a diamond in the rough there that really fits our system,” explained Graham. “He had multiple Pac-12 offers. I believe Washington State was one of them.”

White was in town over the weekend on a visit with ASU and committed shortly after. It was an opportunity for Graham, Mike Norvell and even the players to get to know more of him which gave them every indication that this was going to be a great piece for them.

“We also really liked his character and what he was about,” mentioned Graham. “He came down and spent time with our players for the weekend and just feel blessed to add a player with his kind of explosiveness.”

ASU looks to have created a little pipeline coming from Hart High School which has long been a very talented program in the shadows of Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia. As mentioned, it is the school that Brady White attended as well and is the school that good college players such as Kyle Boller, who played at Cal and in the NFL as well as Matt Moore who attended Oregon State suited up for. Another player that comes from the Valencia area but attended White’s rival high school, which is Valencia High School, is Super Bowl Champion running back Shane Vereen.

Tim White will aim to hit the ground running for ASU this fall to bolster that wide receiving position.
