Gael Storm: Bishop Gorman Too Much for Chandler

Las Vegas, NV- The Chandler Wolves are hoping to follow Sin City’s simple creed.

“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”

Saturday night in front of a capacity crowd on national television, Shaun Aguano’s team fell behind early and never recovered falling to 2014 National Champion Bishop Gorman 35-14 on a warm late-August night.

Through it all Aguano was able to find a silver lining in the “measuring stick game” after easily dispatching Pinnacle last week.

“Bishop is a huge, formidable opponent,” the head coach explained to Sports360AZ.com after the game. “They got the better of us but as long as we improve every week, our goal is to win the state championship. We just need to get better.”

The Gaels took the opening drive and scored quickly, gashing Chandler’s defense behind the play of Texas A&M-commit junior quarterback Tate Martell and his backfield mate Biaggio Walsh who the Wolves had no answer for the entire game.

Chandler cut the lead to 21-14 midway through the third quarter and was driving inside Bishop Gorman territory when top college prospect Tyjon Lindsey stepped in front of a Mason Moran pass in front of the sideline for a key interception.

“He came up and then dropped back at the last-second,” Moran explained. “I couldn’t see him from where I was. I threw it up and he just made a play on the ball.”

Bishop extended the lead to two scores and added a late touchdown with the game already in hand.
