Arizona is already well-represented in the 2022 MLB Draft as Queen Creek native Jacob Berry was selected by the Miami Marlins with the No. 6 overall pick.
Berry posted a .359 average and posted 76 runs, nine home runs and 70 RBIs in 86 games at Queen Creek. He went on to the University of Arizona where he became the Collegiate Baseball National Co-Freshman of the Year. Berry led the Pac-12 in RBI, triples, total bases and extra base hits in 2021.

The third baseman and outfielder then transferred to LSU and go to reunite with Jay Johnson. In 2022, he led the Tigers with a .370 average and hit 15 home runs with 48 RBI.
The Athletic’s Keith Law says Berry “has one of the best pure hit tools in the draft class, with an exceptional combination of contact and power…”
Berry now brings that bat from Queen Creek to Tucson to Baton Rouge and now Miami.
