GCU men’s basketball is headed back to the NCAA tournament after winning the WAC Championship.
The fifth-seeded Lopes beat No. 3 Southern Utah 84-66. GCU is the lowest-seeded team to win the WAC tournament since 2001.
Ray Harrison led the way with 31 points and broke GCU’s D-I era single season scoring record with 620 total points on the year.
This is the second time in three years that the Lopes had made the NCAA tournament. In 2021, the Lopes were a No. 15 seed and took on the second-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes.
GCU knows it is in the tournament and will find out its destination Sunday afternoon as the bracket is revealed.
