Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (November 8th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.

What’s your read on DeVante Parker in Miami? “I have a lot of respect for his skills and abilities. He’s a really talented kid. I don’t know that he’s 100%. I don’t know if he’s been 100% all year and Ryan Tannehill has certainly regressed over the past couple years to the point now even Jarvis Landry is someone you haven’t been able to trust, even in PPR leagues. Great matchup last week for the Dolphins for Tannehill, for Landry, for Parker against the Jets and they could not get the job done. Right now there’s one startable asset in Miami and it’s Jay Ajayi.”

How about Jeremy Hill? “I think he’s going to be the same inconsistent running back we’ve seen to be quite honest with you. His best asset is he’s going to get looks near the goal line and I think he will score a touchdown this week on Monday Night Football against the Giants. He’s an RB2/flex-type but there’s always those weeks where he’s out-touched by Giovanni Bernard and it’s impossible to predict what will happen unless you’re on the Bengals coaching staff because a lot of times this is game flow dependent. If the game flow is the Bengals are behind and need to throw the ball a little more Jeremy Hill isn’t going to get those opportunities. He is a risk/reward play every single week but I do think he’s an RB2/flex this week without question.”

Another player who has been tough to read in Julian Edelman. Thoughts? “I wouldn’t drop him. No question about that. But I don’t have to play him. In a PPR league he’s got a little more value. But last time he played in a standard scoring league he had a touchdown and still didn’t get to 10 points. They’ve got a lot of options: Rob Gronkowski, Martellus Bennett…Danny Amendola is in the mix, as well. Edelman’s role has been diminished a little bit and he’s been far more inconsistent.”

Who are a couple quarterbacks do you like in Week 10? “I start Ben Roethlisberger whenever he plays at Heinz Field because he’s just a different quarterback there. Marcus Mariota has also been very solid over the last several weeks. Jameis Winston is a good play this week,  as well.”

How much confidence do you have in Dion Lewis if he’s able to make it back this week? “What was great about him last year was he sort of erased the backfield committee in New England. It was all Dion Lewis all the time. I don’t think that’s going to happen now because LaGarrette Blount has played so well. This is a guy who’s on pace for 200 fantasy points which is tremendous when you consider where he was drafted. Do I think Dion Lewis comes back and reclaims a featured role in New England? I don’t. James White is still in the mix, as well. Is Lewis rosterable right now as a stash? No question about it. Same as James Starks in Green Bay. I actually like Starks better because he’s got a clear path to a featured role with Eddie Lacy out for the season.”
