This time, Fabiano joined the Brad Cesmat Show to discuss offseason happenings around the league. Here are some highlights from our most recent conversation (May 6) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
Aaron Rodgers has been the story of the last week in the NFL. What’s your take on the Rodgers situation and how it can affect fantasy teams everywhere?
“I’m on the side of the street that gets Aaron Rodgers in a Green Bay Packers uniform for 2021 and doesn’t ruin the value of everybody on that roster. I just want him to play football for the Packers and basically not ruin my Davante Adams shares. I’m being selfish.”
What should the strategy be surrounding Packers players?
“I’m in a bunch of best ball leagues and Davante Adams is falling to the second round. If we knew Rodgers was going to be playing for the Packers, Adams would probably be one of the first wide receivers off the board and eighth, ninth, or 10th overall. Adams is the top wide receiver in fantasy football, unless he’s catching passes from Jordan Love. Then he’s probably a borderline one or two.”
So if Jordan Love ends up being the quarterback, how should people manage it?
“It’s tough to say because I haven’t seen him on an NFL field. He’s got talent, and he’s got the talent around him. He’s a first round pick, but if he’s the quarterback then everyone around him gets de-valued to some point. Adams is suddenly not as valuable and every wide receiver suddenly isn’t as valuable. Aaron Jones, good luck with those eight man fronts. He’s suddenly not as valuable, although he probably loses the least amount of value at the running back position because they’re going to have to lean on the run with Jordan Love under center. You just have to hope that this is a road that you don’t have to go down. Let’s hope that Aaron Rodgers comes back and plays for the Packers. If he doesn’t, he’s either going to Denver, Las Vegas, or Jeopardy.”
