Despite coming off back-to-back bowl appearances to start the Herm Edwards era in Tempe, Arizona State football this spring is well, a work in progress.

It comes with the territory as the Sun Devils are working with new coordinators on both sides of the ball.

Offensively, Zak Hill took over for Rob Likens and the duo of Marvin Lewis and Antonio Pierce will call the defense with Danny Gonzales now at New Mexico.

“All of a sudden, it’s brand new when you think about it on both sides of the ball,” Edwards said with a chuckle in a recent interview with Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat. “So we’re actually starting over again, which is kind of a good thing because the thing you realize when you start over, it peaks player’s interest…this is kind of going to be fun to watch to see how this thing grows.”

Edwards also discussed the increased expectations for star quarterback Jayden Daniels, the pair of freshmen running backs looking to take over for Eno Benjamin, as well as the rigors and temptations of being a student-athlete at ASU.

The Devils start their second week of spring workouts Tuesday at 10:00AM.
