Here’s a news flash: the Suns will be in the playoffs next spring.
Kevin Durant could miss eight weeks, and I wouldn’t care. He’s played heavy minutes in the first nine games. He didn’t have a whole summer away from the court because of the Team USA Gold medal run in Paris. The NBA is a game of attrition(it didn’t use to be that way); I need Durant fresh in mid-April, not November. Averaging 38 minutes per game on the front end of the schedule doesn’t make much sense…
Saturday Football > Sunday. It’s not even close…
Those who predicted the College Football Playoff would be bad for the game might want to revisit their ballots. Did you have Arizona State in the contention for a spot in the CFP at the start of the year? In the old format we’d be talking a trip to the Sun, Vegas, or Holiday Bowl(which may still happen), but after beating Central Florida Saturday night, there’s a path for the Sun Devils to be in the 12-team playoff…
I miss walking to the mailbox to grab a half dozen political fliers that would make the recycling can before I entered the house. I miss the constant text messages reminding me to vote even though I mailed my ballot well before the election. I miss trying to watch sporting events(an escape from the pressures of life) only to be bombarded with political spots that were nothing more than speaking badly of another person and added nothing to my vote other than shaking my head.
I can’t be the only one bothered by the blight of political signs still standing on almost every street corner, even though the election was nearly a week ago. A candidate not cleaning up their mess is like leaving dirty dishes stacked up after the holiday meal. Win or lose, clean up your(bleeping) mess!!!!
The last time Arizona State was 7-2 was the 2014 season. With a little help, they could be playing in the Big 12 title game. Win out over K-State, BYU, and Arizona, and who knows? Set aside some room on your credit cards for travel. How much BYU blue vs. ASU Gold will we see in the stands in two weeks for the home finale?
Remember when special teams used to be “special”? A college kid for UCF flips the game on one kickoff return that should’ve never happened. Luck is part of sports…
Jordan Tyson’s NIL ask for 2025 went up a few nickels Saturday night. Same for C.J. Fite…
By the way, Tyson was ranked 172nd-best wide receiver in his high school class. Silly rankings mean lots of clicks but not much in the way of substance or credibility. During his weekly coaches’ show at Trophy Bar this past Wednesday night, Kenny Dillingham spoke at length about Tyson and how much he’s matured in the last year…
Braiden Bell did a solid job as the play-by-play voice on ESPN+ for the Arizona State basketball opener against Idaho State. He will also be the voice of the new G-League Valley Suns. 98.7FM morning co-host Dan Bickley replaces former NBA player Scott Williams as the color analyst on GCU basketball TV broadcasts. It should be a good season for the ‘Lopes; I look forward to watching…
