Bradley Erickson is just a 17-year-old junior at Desert Vista. But this weekend, he’s on the same playing field as the pros.
This weekend is the NASCAR Championship at Phoenix Raceway, which includes NASCAR’s regional series, the ARCA Menards West Series, where Erickson competes across the West Coast full-time in search of a championship. This weekend, he shares the garage with the NASCAR Xfinity Series and sits just a few yards away from the professional Cup Series drivers as they prepare to race on Sunday.
The 17-year-old sits fifth in the ARCA West entering the final race with a chance to climb as high as second place in the points. The valley native finished third at his home track of Phoenix Raceway in March with the ARCA Menards National Series. On Friday, he’ll get a chance to impress his heroes like NASCAR Champions Joey Logano and Kyle Busch watching from the Cup Series garage.
The Arizona Lottery 100 takes the green flag at 11:30 a.m. local time on FloRacing in the opening event of NASCAR Championship Weekend. The Championship events conclude on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. local time with the NASCAR Cup Series at live on NBC.
