Spring practice at Desert Vista High School is officially underway under the leadership of their new head coach, Ty Wisdom. Coach Wisdom already has a history of rebounding a team from a losing season and hopes to do the same for the thunder.
“Our motto right here is all gas, no breaks,” Wisdom said. “We’re never going to practice over an hour and 45 minutes but we’re going to be moving and going the entire time and we’re going to stay dialed in.”
The former Horizon head coach turned the Huskies program around after a 0-10 season. In his five seasons as the head coach at Horizon he led the team to four winning seasons. Now coach Wisdom is taking over Desert Vista’s football program after Dan Hinds coached the Thunder for nearly two decades.
“You take a losing program like that and you turn it around and take them to the elite eight, that’s really good seeing that,” said Junior Offensive Lineman Jai Rodriguez.
The Thunder are also hoping to rebound under coach Wisdom as they are coming off of an 0-6 season.
“Coach Wiz is just a great guy to work with,” said Rodriguez. “He came in here and took charge and that’s what we needed here at Desert Vista.”
