Desert Mountain’s Santana Wilson Commits To Texas

Desert Mountain rising senior cornerback Santana Wilson announced his commitment to the University of Texas on Saturday afternoon on his official visit.

The 6-foot-0, 180-pound corner is among the top 100 prospects in the 2024 class and chose the Longhorns over seven other programs he announced in his top eight earlier this month. Last week on The Recruiting Roundup, Santana told Claudia Collins that Texas was among the three programs that he felt fit his style of play.

“Really what was going through my head was kind of where I would play at defensively and just really seeing what scheme they run. Whether they’re a man-coverage team or more of a zone team are kind of where I would play at more comfortably. So like a school like Washington, Tennessee or Texas, just a more man-on-man team.”

Prior to his visit, Wilson said he was in no rush to commit and planned to take his time in order to make the right decision.

In his junior season, Wilson played on both sides of the ball for the Wolves. He posted 49 tackles and four interceptions last season.
