Dear crazy high school parent, Infractions Committee and ASU, D-Backs and Bieber

Arizona Sports News online

I’ve been told for several months by those who I trust that once Tennessee football finds out their NCAA punishment, Arizona State should be next in line. Well, based on the “punishment” handed to the Volunteers this past week, I’d say Always Something University should be feeling pretty good about getting the nonsense that happened under the previous regime out of the way soon and Kenny Dillingham can go about his business.
I thought it was smart that the Sun Devils self-sanctioned scholarships back in early 2021. It wasn’t wise that they kept Herm as the coach. He had a soft landing at the network, while the mess in Tempe cascaded into an embarrassing 2022 season on and off the field.
Tennessee committed “hundreds” of violations according to the NCAA Committee on Infractions. The committee wrote that it was “one of the worst COI (Committee of Infractions) has seen.” However, the Vols were NOT given a postseason ban even though they committed “hundreds” of violations? Is being fined millions of dollars like the Volunteers ($9 million) more damaging to the current program than a bowl sanction? I would guess the answer is “yes”.
I’ve been asked plenty of questions about what the depth of the penalties against Arizona State might be. Not going to play that game. Might get lots more clicks, but that’s not my way of going about business…

Great job by the students at the Daily Northwestern on the scandal within the Wildcats football department!

Former NU football player details hazing allegations after coach suspension

Monday will be an interesting day in the Valley sports media landscape…

Chandler School District opens classrooms this Wednesday. Having just come out of 20-years as a CUSD parent, our family loved the early start to the school year. Extended breaks during the nine months make it more manageable on everyone. If your kid is in high school sports, they are already back at school everyday by mid-July anyway…

Dear crazy high school parent,
Your son or daughter is on a TEAM. Please stop sending me notes about how great YOUR kid is. Please begin a note with the school and the head coach. Please don’t send me a highlight tape of your kid. Please don’t include any mnetion of how they did in 7 on 7. If you’re sending me a note about your kid, please lead with her/his GPA and I might be interested to read on. If you’re the one who goes to all of your kids high school football practices and stands on the fence line, side of the field, on top of a hill, in the parking lot with binoculars(I’ve seen that one a time or two) do you go to the classroom and do the same when they are taking a math or English exam? Do you make meet the teacher night, or just everything that is sports related?
If you’re a parent in the freshman year for your kid, please enjoy the process and don’t pay attention to the non-sense(there’s a whooooolllllee lot of nonsense). I’ve seen more parents by the time they hit the end of their kids high school years, have issues with their kid, hate the school, have relationship issues with their spouse, hate the coach, lead a bitter existence. It’s not for the faint of heart…

What would TV news programming be like without happy-talk around how hot the weather is? Do you sit around and talk about 117-degrees? Weather talk is meant to pass the time for about thirty seconds. In my world, probably less. Read a book, polish the bathroom floor tiles, watch Christmas in July on Hallmark. Just don’t spend time talking with me about the weather…

What would morning sports talk radio be if Lebron James retired? Hundreds of dudes owe HIM money for giving them show content…

Uh-oh! Cleveland Guardians ace Shane Bieber on the IL with elbow inflammation. D-backs can’t stand pat, can they?…
