We know what the Arizona Diamondbacks look like presently, but it is hard to keep up with the future because they don’t play here locally. However, most Minor League games are televised and can be viewed using the MiLB.TV package, including all D-backs affiliates. Whether you can follow the teams or not, we will keep you up to date on what you need to know. Every week we take a look at the Diamondback’s farm system and a closer look at the top 20 prospects (according to Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com) here in 2013 and their production throughout the season.

 

1. Tyler Skaggs-LHP-Reno Aces (AAA)

Last week: 1 start (win), 6.1 innings, 7 hits, 3 runs (all earned), 2 walks, 5 Ks, 4.26 ERA

Season: 8 starts (3-5), 44 innings, 49 hits, 33 runs (29 earned), 17 walks, 44 Ks, 5.93 ERA

*Notes:Skaggs has now pitched into the 7th innings in two consecutive starts and has dropped his ERA below six.

 

2. Archie Bradley-RHP-Mobile Bay Bears (AA)

Last week: 2 starts (2-0), 12 innings, 7 hits, 1 run (earned), 8 walks, 25 Ks, 0.75 ERA

Season (Mobile): 4 starts (3-0), 20 innings, 12 hits, 2 runs (both earned), 8 walks, 25 Ks, 0.90 ERA

Season (Visalia): 5 starts (2-0), 28.2 innings, 22 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), 10 walks, 43 Ks, 1.26 ERA

*Notes: In both Visalia and Mobile combined, Bradley’s opponent batting average is .198 and had only allowed one home run on the season.

 

3. Didi Gregorious-SS-Diamondbacks (MLB)

Last 10 days: .316 AVG, 12 hits, 4 runs, 5 RBI, 5 walks, 6 Ks,

Season (with Diamondbacks): .348 AVG, 31 hits, 14 runs, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 8 RBI, 7 walks, 15 Ks, .402 OBP

 

4. Matt Davidson-3B-Reno Aces (AAA)

Last 10 games: .278 AVG, 10 hits, 5 runs, 4 doubles, 7 RBI, 4 walks, 10 Ks, 1 stolen base, .333 OBP

Season: 39 games, .281 AVG, 43 hits, 18 runs, 11 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs, 27 RBI, 14 walks, 50 Ks, 1 stolen base, .335 OBP

*Notes: Davidson has a hit in nine of his last ten games and an RBI in five of last ten.

 

5. Adam Eaton-OF-Reno Aces (AAA)/Visalia Rawhide (A+) – Rehab Assignment

Has been sent back to Phoenix after complications with his elbow.

 

6. Chris Owings-SS-Reno Aces (AAA)

Last 10 games: .286 AVG, 12 hits, 8 runs, 1 double, 3 RBI, 7 Ks, .286 OBP

Season: 43 games, .340 AVG, 65 hits, 39 runs, 11 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, 27 RBI, 5 walks, 38 Ks, 7 stolen bases, .360 OBP

*Notes: Had two hits in five of last ten games

 

7. Nick Ahmed-SS-Mobile BayBears (AA)

Last 10 games: .103 AVG, 3 hits, 3 runs, 1 RBI, 3 walks, 6 Ks, 1 stolen base, .188 OBP

Season: 42 games, .148 AVG, 19 hits, 12 runs, 1 double, 8 RBI, 11 walks, 29 Ks, 3 stolen bases, .218 OBP

*Notes: Ahmed only has one extra base hit in 128 at-bats all season.

 

8. David Holmberg-LHP-Mobile BayBears (AA)

Last week: 2 starts (0-0), 15 innings, 13 hits, 5 runs (all earned), 2 walks, 8 Ks, 3.00 ERA

Season: 9 starts (1-2), 56 innings, 47 hits, 22 runs (14 earned), 15 walks, 39 Ks, 2.25 ERA

*Notes: Holmberg has been lights out in May only allowing seven runs in 26 innings including 19 Ks to just 2 walks.

 

9. Zeke Sprull-RHP-Reno Aces(AAA)

Last week: 2 starts (0-1), 11 innings, 15 hits, 11 runs (all earned), 4 walks, 8 Ks, 9.00 ERA

Season (Reno): 4 starts (1-1), 24 innings, 26 hits, 15 runs (13 earned), 10 walks, 12 Ks, 4.88 ERA

Season (Mobile): 5 starts (0-3), 31.2 innings, 24 hits, 7 runs (5 earned), 12 walks,  20 Ks, 1.42 ERA

*Notes: Sprull’s biggest issue has been with runners in scoring position since being called up to Reno. His ERA is 15.95 in those situations.

11. Anthony Meo-RHP-Mobile BayBears (AA)

Last week: 1 start (Loss), 2.2 innings, 2 hits, 4 runs (all earned), 5 walks, 0 Ks, 13.50 ERA

Season: 8 starts (0-4), 35.1 innings, 31 hits, 26 runs (25 earned), 25 walks, 17 Ks, 6.37 ERA

*Notes: Meo is good when the bases are empty (1.50 ERA), but with runners on his ERA is 11.42 and with runners in scoring position his ERA is 13.86.

14. Evan Marshall-RHP-Reno Aces (AAA)

Last week: 3 relief appearances (0-1), 2.2 innings, 4 hits, 1 run (earned), 4 walks, 4 Ks, 4.09 ERA

Season: 16 relief appearances (1-3), 15.1 innings, 28 hits, 15 runs (14 earned), 13 walks, 13 Ks, 8.22 ERA

*Notes: Has prevented a runner from reaching base in just two of his last ten appearances.

 

15. Jake Barrett-RHP-Visalia Rawhide (A+)

Last week: 2 relief appearances, 2 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 3 Ks, 0.00 ERA

Season: 15 relief appearances, 15 innings, 8 hits, 2 runs (both earned), 2 walks, 23 Ks, 1.20 ERA

*Notes: Barrett has not allowed a run in five appearances and hasn’t allowed a walk in six. 

 

16. Evan Marzilli-OF-Visalia Rawhide (A+)

Last 10 games: .233 AVG, 7 hits, 3 runs, 1 double, 2 RBI, 1 walk, 7 Ks, .324 OBP

Season: 42 games, .196 AVG, 27 hits, 23 runs, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 6 RBI, 27 walks, 59 Ks, 4 stolen bases, .343 OBP

*Notes: Marzilli has continued to struggle to get into a groove after hitting .332 last season.

 

17. Jake Lamb-3B-Visalia Rawhide (A+)

Last 10 games: .243 AVG, 9 hits, 8 runs, 3 doubles, 1 home run, 5 RBI, 9 walks, 11 Ks, .391 AVG

Season: 25 games, .329 AVG, 28 hits, 14 runs, 9 doubles, 4 home runs, 16 RBI, 20 walks, 27 Ks, .453 OBP

*Notes: All you need to do is look at Lamb’s on-base percentage so far this season to get an idea of his production.

 

18. Andrew Chafin-LHP-Mobile BayBears (AA) – called up from Visalia last week

Last Week: 1 start (Loss), 6 innings, 9 hits, 4 runs (all earned), 2 walks, 1 K, 6.00 ERA

Season (Mobile): 3 starts (1-2), 18 innings, 19 hits, 7 runs (6 earned), 11 walks, 12 Ks, 3.00 ERA

Season (Visalia): 6 starts (3-1), 31 innings, 32 hits, 16 runs (all earned), 14 walks, 32 Ks, 4.65 ERA

*Notes: Has thrown six innings in all three of his starts since called up to Mobile.

 

19. Chase Anderson-RHP-Reno Aces (AAA)

Last week: 1 start (win), 7 innings, 4 hits, 1 run (earned), 2 walks, 6 Ks, 1.29 ERA

Season: 8 starts (3-4), 45.2 innings, 55 hits, 34 runs (28 earned), 14 walks, 40 Ks, 5.52 ERA

*Notes: Last start was best of season as it was his first time going seven innings and allowing less than two runs. The opponents batting average was .174 in the game.

 

20. Kyle Winkler-RHP-Visalia Rawhide (A+)

Last Week: 1 start (no decision), 3.2 innings, 5 hits, 4 runs (1 earned), 6 walks, 4 Ks, 2.45 ERA

Season: 8 starts (1-3), 34.1 innings, 52 hits, 35 runs (26 earned), 23 walks, 30 Ks, 6.82 ERA

*Notes: Despite what the ERA looks like, Winkler has only allowed 5 earned runs in his last three starts (14.2 innings).
