The magical run for the 2023 Arizona Diamondbacks is over.

Zac Gallen put his best stuff out there, no-hitting Texas through six innings before Arizona lost 5-0 to Texas in Game 5.

The Rangers win its first World Series title in franchise history.

The seventh inning was the difference when World Series MVP Corey Seager recorded the first hit for the Rangers. Then Evan Carter hit his postseason record ninth double, before Mitch Garver plated Seager with a single.

Gallen’s final stat line sat at 6.1 innings pitched, six strikeouts, zero walks and one run.

Kevin Ginkel got out of a jam with two runners on when Gallen exited the game. The top of the eighth wasn’t as easy for Ginkel, who loaded the bases before getting back-to-back outs.

Paul Sewald entered in the ninth, giving up 2 runs before recording an out after Alek Thomas missed a ground ball in center field. Then Marcus Semien cranked a two-run dinger to suck all the life out of Chase Field.

The Arizona offense left runners in scoring position in each of the first five innings. By the time the night was done, 11 runners were stranded without crossing home plate.

Key moments in the Series

There were many key moments in the Diamondbacks first World Series appearance since 2001.

Paul Sewald leaving a fastball up to Corey Seager to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th in Game 1 is the first.

Christian Walker blowing past a stop sign at third base and getting thrown out at home gave Texas enough momentum to win Game 3. Poor umpiring could be thrown in there but that was on both sides throughout.

Game 4 Seager hit a nother defining two-run blast, this time capping off a five-run second inning.
