Phoenix Rising forward Chris Cortez was named the USL Player of the Week for Week 2 of the 2018 USL season. Cortez scored three goals and notched an assist in Phoenix Rising’s 4-1 win over OKC Energy FC. Cortez’s goals came in the 45th and 83rd minutes as well as in stoppage time. Cortez also rovided the assist for Solomon Asante’s SportsCenter Top 10 worthy highlight goal in the 28th minute. Cortez became the second different player this season to receive a league honor following Asante’s Team of the Week Honorable Mention in Week 1. Phoenix Rising FC is back in league action on the road on Saturday against Reno 1868 FC. |
