Story by Bruce Cooper

Cardinal’s general manager, Monti Ossenfort, immediately addressed some needs in free agency upon the legal tampering period and the first business day of the new league year. His biggest move was inking former Bengals offensive tackle Jonah Williams to a 2-year $30 million contract with $19 million guaranteed.  Williams has started every game for the Bengals, playing both left and right tackle, since being drafted in the first round of the 2019 draft.  The Williams acquisition almost certainly means that the Cardinals will not use their second, first-round pick on an offensive lineman in April’s NFL draft.

A recap of the first four rounds of my original Cardinals 2024 mock draft posted on January 13th looks like the following:

Round         Player
   1               Marvin Harrison Jr.–WR–Ohio State
   1               Brian Thomas Jr. –WR–LSU
   2               Byron Murphy II–DL–Texas
   3               Edgerrin Cooper–LB–Texas A&M
   3               Zak Zinter–OL–Michigan
   3               McKinnley Jackson–DL–Texas A&M
   4               Darious Robinson–DL–Missouri

Naturally, free agency and draftees both rising and falling on draft boards influence change in my Cards 2.0 mock draft:

 Round        Player
1              Marvin Harrison Jr.–WR–Ohio State–The people’s choice!  Not much needs to be said here regarding Harrison’s elite skill and talents.
1              Darious Robinson–DL–Missouri–Robinson has elevated his stock via a very strong showing at the Senior Bowl.  He brings much-needed pass rushing talent to the Cardinals defense.
2              Kingsley Suamataia–OL–BYU–Suamataia is very athletic and versatile for his size. (6’6, 325) He can play both guard and tackle.  Can be an immediate option at left guard or a future tackle option when Williams’ contract expires.
3              Jalen McMillan–WR–Washington–McMillan is a fast, sure-handed receiver with good route-running skills.  He brings size, (6’1, 195) and length to the Cards receiver room.
3              Braelon Allen—RB—Wisconsin—Allen is the heir apparent to the 29-year-old, James Conner, who has one year remaining on his contract.  Allen combines power with speed and would greatly impact the running game.
3              Justin Eboigbe—DL—Alabama—Eboigbe can play both the 3 and 5-technique.  He had 17 qb hurries and 7 sacks for the Crimson Tide this past season.
4              Jordan Burch—DL—Oregon—Burch is tall, rangy and athletic.  He stands 6’6, 295.  He can play with his hand on the ground or standing up.  The potential is there.  He can be special if the Cardinals can bring it out of him.
5              Walter Rouse—OL—Oklahoma—Rouse started four years at Stanford before transferring to finish his career at Oklahoma.  He’s powerful at 6’6, 325 moves well and has strong hands.  Adds offensive line depth.
5              Jarrian Jones—DBFlorida St.–Jones played primarily slot corner for the Seminoles.  He had a team-best 3 interceptions returning one to the house.
6              K.T. LevestonOLKansas St.–Leveston has the versatility to play both guard and tackle.  At 6’4, 325 he played extensively at left tackle this past season for the Wildcats.  Adds depth to offensive line.
7              Ro TorrenceDBASUAt 6’3, 200 Torrence is a big, physical cornerback who doesn’t shy away from contact. His size and length could lead to being moved around all three levels of the defense.
