Chubba Purdy Enters Transfer Portal

Former Perry high school star quarterback Chubba Purdy informed Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell  Tuesday that he is leaving the Seminoles program and will enter the transfer portal. The redshirt freshman suffered a fractured collarbone on his non-throwing shoulder in the Seminoles’ very first scrimmage where freshman quarterbacks were allowed to be hit, in 2020. He would come back and play in three games, including a strong showing last November against North Carolina State, completing 15-of-23 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns including a 69-yard score, and rushed for 54 yards in that game. Shortly after that performance, due to infection, he underwent a third procedure to remove hardware from the initial operation, which ended his freshman season. Last April, Purdy had one more procedure performed in Arizona,  where he rehabbed the shoulder and was fully cleared in late June. Two weeks ago, Purdy saw his first game action of the 2021 season for FSU, completing 5-5 for 98yds and throwing two touchdowns against UMass. Purdy has four years of college eligibility remaining.
