The Birds are back in state.
Chaparral returns to the 6A state title game for the second straight year after beating Williams Field on Friday night, 35-28.
The reigning state champions will have a rematch against Highland in the Final.
Quarterback Brayten Silbor had three passing touchdowns and offensive Swiss Army Knife Grady Hickey had a rushing and receiving touchdown.
Last year, Chaparral beat Highland 24-14 in the state final. While both starting quarterbacks return to the matchup, every player who scored a touchdown in last year’s back-and-forth final has graduated. The 6A state final kicks off on December 11 at 12 pm at Sun Devil Stadium.
