Matthew Pola-Mao’s high school career featured dominance, injuries, a transfer and state championship. Now, it includes a college commitment.
The Chandler defensive tackle made his pledge to Kansas State on Wednesday morning.
After two strong varsity years at Mountain Pointe, Pola-Mao missed his entire junior season due to injury. Entering his senior season, the defensive tackle transferred to Chandler and had 39 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks in nine games. In three varsity seasons, he had 141 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 17 tackles for loss.

Pola-Mao also picked up offers from Nebraska and Louisville in the last two months.
“Pola-Mao showed big time ability early in his career, making all-league as freshman and sophomore at Mountain Pointe,” Sports360AZ recruiting expert Jason Jewell said. “He also was very impressive in the shotput, throwing 50+ feet as a freshman. Struggled with injuries as a junior before transferring to Chandler. Big, powerful and strong defensive tackle prospect that has great football in his genes.”
Pola-Mao’s brother, Isaiah, plays at USC and his cousin, Noa Pola-Gates, is committed to Nebraska.
