Game Four of the NLCS is still four hours away and Cory Hahn is sitting across from me in the main concourse section 126-127. I wanted to chop it up with the former Sun Devil who is the assistant Director of Player Personal for the Diamondbacks.
His story has been told many times, but if you’re not familiar with Cory’s journey, in 2011 he suffered a C5 spinal cord injury sliding head first while playing for Arizona State, ending his career and leaving him paralyzed from the chest down.
Now 31, in his 8th season with the Diamondbacks, he’s living the front office executive dream of being a part of a team that is in the middle of the National League Championship Series. “In a nutshell it’s every thing to do with roster acquisition, roster constuction, oversight and management of our pro scouts that we have around the country”.
So with the Diamondbacks looking to even up the series tonight, Cory Hahn is living his best life. “It really doesn’t get much better than this honestly. Being an ex-player and being someone who got to experience some really cool in my own playing career and grew up in this game and how much I love the game of baseball it really doesn’t get much better when you pull up to the stadium every day and this is your job. “I love the game and I love what I do.”
My day is much better after spending a half hour with Cory Hahn…
