Centrally-Located PHHacility Progressing Nicely

Why rent when you can own?

It seemed the perfect rationale for the Powerhouse Hoops Club Basketball organization who is in the process of seeing their new multi-million PHHacility take shape in the southern part of the Valley. It will serve as the home of Powerhouse Hoops AAU and Academy Training with the grand opening expected in early June of 2018.

“The concept started about five or six years ago,” John Ortega, Powerhouse Hoops Co-owner and Director of the PHHacility said to Sports360AZ.com. “For us, it just started making sense. We have so many teams practicing all over that it’s really getting hard for us to make sure all of our teams are getting the same amount of practice time.”

The 31,000 square-foot facility is complete with three full-size NCAA courts, locker rooms, weight rooms a player’s lounge and a theater.

Power House color renderings“We’ve done a phenomenal job of trying to touch and change the lives of as many kids as possible,” Powerhouse Co-owner and Program Director Jeff Becker explained to Sports360AZ.com. “This really is a great foundation, a great pillar and a great statement of what we’re trying to do. It’s for the kids. It’s for the community.”

The PHHacility is centrally located, off 46th Street, just south of the I-10, so families from the far east Valley won’t have to trek across town and vice versa for games.

The complex also serves as place youth can go to escape the pressures many face.

“We feel like we can help a lot kids, kids that need a place to go,” Ortega said. “Rather than go get in trouble or have issues, we want to do more than just have a basketball facility.”

PHHacility will also feature an academic center which will provide kids with tutors and guidance in scholastic areas where they may be struggling.

“We’ve really reached out to the basketball community for people who do these types of things, for help,” Ortega said.

The opening event is scheduled to be a high school summer tournament featuring close to 20 high-level teams from around the Valley.
