Kenyan Drake is property of the Arizona Cardinals for now. The team announced on Monday morning that they have placed the transition tag on the running back.
While he only played eight games last season for the Cardinals, after coming over from the Miami Dolphins in a trade, he led the team in rushing with 643 yards and 8 touchdowns.
The transition tag means that Drake can negotiate a long term deal with other teams through July 22nd. The Cardinals have the right-of-first-refusal on any offer Drake receives from another team, but would not get compensation if the contract is not matched.
